Doctor Prescribed Medical Massage Therapy
Medical Massage Therapy is a term that refers to a specific protocol that's used when your medical doctor prescribes "Medically Necessary Massage Therapy". This form of massage is often, but not always, done under the instruction of a physician in the case of work related injuries, specific physical conditions, injuries and accidents such as slips, falls, sports injuries, repetitive use issues and much more.
Medically Necessary Massage Therapy is some times prescribed for mental/emotional health care in regards to stress, depression, anxiety or during a "rough patch" in life. Medical Massage Therapy can be a part of an overall treatment plan for many conditions or medical problems that your doctor thinks massage will help with. Your therapist will conduct a thorough health intake during each massage session and develop a treatment plan to provide you with the most appropriate treatment for your needs. Therapists will document progress and work closely with your doctor and other health care providers to provide you with the best care possible. Your massage may include advanced myofascial techniques, deep tissue techniques, cupping therapy, stretching, hydrotherapy (hot/cold packs) on the affected muscles and joints. In accordance with UCR (usual, customary and reasonable) fees this service is available in 15 minutes increments at a rate between 30.00 - 40.00 per unit and is based on actual time spent on behalf of the client. Billing Services There are many situations where massage services may be covered by an insurance provider that may not be related to a work-related injury or an auto injury. Today more and more insurance companies offer an alternative health benefit plan. To find out if massage therapy is covered under your health plan, please contact your insurance provider or call me at 503-957-3696 and we can help you . |
